SD-WAN stands for Software Defined-Wireless Area Network. It is a type of wireless area network, where a virtual architecture is created, it is a kind of a bridge that connects users to the application by using this virtual architecture. Consider it as a small footbridge that is a transition between two villages, where the first village is the end-user, and the second village is the application the user is gaining data from.
What are SD-WAN solutions?
SD WAN solutions are those companies that provide this type of architecture between the end-user and the application and various other signals such as the MPLS, LTE, and other broadband services are used to form such architectural networks.
To understand it in a much basic way, the SD-WAN is like a traffic controller that directs traffic from the user based on where the traffic is going. This means that, if a user wants to access the SaaS protocol, then it would segregate the traffic coming from the user to the SaaS protocol. And if a user wants to access theIaaS protocol, then it would segregate the traffic coming from that user to the IaaS protocol.
Advantages of SD-WAN solutions:-
Thus, if the provider of your broadband is connected to an SD-WAN solutions company, then it would not only have SD-WAN software inside them which would help them to establish a virtual architecture. This bridge that would direct traffic across different platforms, would be very beneficial for both the user and the company itself. The advantages are as follows:-
- It would provide a high-end user experience, as it would be very easy for the user to connect directly to the application that the user wants to, without the user having to change different channels or data streams, to get to the desired application.
- It would save IT costs, because of the fact that it would no longer be required by the company to search for the required application from their side, and the user could directly access the application, as and when required.
- It highly increases the application’s performance. If the directed traffic to the end application does not reach in time, the application would collapse and lag due to infrequency in the incoming traffic.
SD-WAN is in many ways way better than traditional wireless area networks, because of the fact that they are not restricted to the router they are connected to, as they can be accessed while the cloud too.
