Celebrating the Decima

An unprecedented initiative, El Jolgorio de Massachusetts partnered with Berklee College of Music, Wheelock College
and the Boston Arts Academy to deliver 2 days of cultural and musical exchanges between Boston and Puerto Rico; all the
while celebrating and elevating the Decima, Puerto Rico’s traditional poetic verse.

El Jolgorio brought to Boston music superstars that included
Grupo Mapeyé (Puerto Rico’s national band), Luz Celenia
Tirado, Emma Colón Zayas, and Lenny-Jeanette Adorno. El Jolgorio also brought internationally acclaimed Santo maker,
Luis Raul Nieves Roman, better known as “Pichilo” to exhibit
his world-famous carvings; as well as William Cumpiano, one
of the world’s top guitar makers.

The 2-day affair was culminated in a sell-out concert at
Berklee Performing Arts Center that introduced Boston to the cultural richness of Puerto Rico.
